Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary school introduced a School Travel Plan five years ago, to make travel to and from the school safer and more sustainable for pupils, parents and teachers. To highlight the good work the school is doing implementing their travel plan, Our Lady of Lourdes was recently awarded a Gold Standard from Transport for London for their travel plan.

Commenting, Lib Dem Sarah Teather said:

"Our Lady of Lourdes has done fantastic work getting their pupils to think about their health and to use the journey to school to as an opportunity to exercise. The new cycle bays will allow even more of the schools pupils and teachers the option of cycling to school and are a great next step in encouraging pupil and their families out of their cars.

"Over the summer, British cyclists had great success during both the Olympic and Paralympics Games and who knows, maybe one of the pupils who use these cycle bays could be a future gold medallist."
